2007 Space Elevator Games Announced

As it happened, our mailing list server died a few days ago, and so this bulletin is being sent out a little bit behind the press release – we apologize for that.

In the meantime, the accident at Scaled Composites happened, and we want to send our condolences to the families and co-workers.  Scaled and Virgin Galactic represent an important vision for the Space industry, and accidents are part of any cutting-edge endeavor.  The hybrid motor involved is one of the safest designs there are, and we hope this does not slow these guys down.  We wish the injured crew a fast and complete recovery.

Below is the original bulletin.

Hello Folks!

If you check out our home page, www.spaceward.org, you will see that we've just announced the 2007 Space Elevator Games, to be held on October 19 - 21, just north of Salt Lake City, Utah.

This year's games are being held in cooperation with the Davis Area Visitors and Convention Bureau, who have been extremely helpful and supportive in arranging the venue and with making local contacts.

A lot more information is available on our web site, but here are some quick highlights:

As we move forward with the games, we'd like to draw on your support and talents.  We're looking for a few good men and women that can dedicate time between now and event time.  We are looking for people that are located in the greater Salt Lake City area and can help us with "boots on the ground", people that are located in the San Francisco Bay Area and can work with us here at HQ, and people that can work remotely.

An up-to-date list of positions we're looking for is kept at at www.spaceward.org/help-wanted.html.

In particular, we're looking for:

If you're up for it, please email us at help-wanted@spaceward.org, and tell us what you want and can do, where you're located, and how much time can you dedicate between now and October.

We look forward to seeing you at the games!
